My church is composed of people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly, if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will make generous gifts to worthy causes,
if I am a generous giver.
It will bring other people into its worship,
if I invite them.
It will be a church
of loyalty and love,
of fearlessness and faith,
and a church of noble spirit,
if I am filled with these same things.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I will dedicate myself to the task
Of being all the things
That I want my church to be.
Amen
Hello Everyone!
Lent is a time for reflection and renewal. The Stewardship Team is grateful for the many gifts of Time and Talent that we see every day at St. Matthias. We all want our lives to have meaning, a deeper purpose. Despite many demands on our time, including job and family responsibilities, there remains a hunger to give back and make an impact beyond our individual lives. Becoming involved in a parish ministry is a powerful way to give of yourself and make an impact on the lives of others. Whether serving soup, sharing our faith with future generations, or applying your professional skills on a parish committee, there are countless ways to use your time and talent at St. Matthias. We invite you to look around and ask where you might be able to give of yourself.
The February Soup-er was a success, with 49 people sharing Mulligatawny or Lentil Soup and good conversation. Thank you to the Sunday School for providing the bread. Thank you to Reverend Joan Riding for having an important birthday and the opportunity to have birthday cake with her. The March 10th Soup-er will be our last until next Fall, and we are looking for new recipes and would happily welcome new soup makers. A big thank you to all who have helped.
The Stewardship team is offering a Lenten Quiet Hour from 5pm till 6pm every Monday in Lent. Time for reflection and meditation in the quiet of your church. At 5pm the sunlight streams through the stained glass and the beauty is breath-taking.
We will be giving our support for the 125th Anniversary Events in May and look forward to the Celebration. We are working on a program of Special Guest Speakers for the near future.

From your Stewardship Team:
By popular demand, we’re expanding the number of soup-ers from five, to seven.
The Stewardship team, which includes the Rector, has worked hard to enhance our parish message of welcoming and spiritual growth. The members have tried to more vigorously integrate the larger notion of stewardship – time, talent and treasure – in our parish. The team’s efforts have been directed to forming a narrative budget, doing a parish survey, holding a visioning day, enhancing parish communication, looking at needs outside the parish, and helping to set goals and objectives -- all the while enlivening the process with occasions of fun, food and entertainment.
